Pics or it didn't happen

The beautiful world of Pinterest introduced me to this meme and I thought to myself "how true, how true." Why does this feel so true though? I guess with social media we just have this crazy desire to make sure everyone knows we're having a good time. So do we just use Instagram as a way to get approval, or do we really think that the internet will be missing out if we don't share the above average tacos we consumed. I think it's fine to feel a little popular if I got 120 likes on my photo, but I just hope that my self esteem doesn't depend on it.

  1. Wow, it makes me a little confused to think about why I post pictures and updates on social media. I guess depending on what I am doing and how I am feeling determines more if its a 'so I don't forget,' or 'see what I'm doing everybody!' There are so many different forms for "updating" people on your life that really we're almost always telling the world exactly what we're doing.

  2. Wow this is so true. Last Sunday we drove through the gorgeous fall mountains and the whole time I kept saying to my husband "Stop! We need to get a picture!" We never stopped. I was disappointed that I couldn't post my latest experience with the season. Now I think about it, and I spent so much time worrying about not getting a picture that it took away from experiencing and appreciating God's nature in the moment. This was a good reminder to put the camera away and just ENJOY.
